Lush coffee farm landscape with rolling green hills at golden hour

Our Origins

Every cup starts in the soil. Meet the farmers behind your morning ritual.

Four regions. Four stories.

We travel to origin every harvest season. These are the farms and cooperatives we're proud to partner with.

The Kochere cooperative represents 700 smallholder farmers cultivating coffee under indigenous shade trees. Each family tends fewer than two hectares, hand-picking only the ripest cherries during a harvest window that lasts just six weeks.

Maria Gonzalez’s family farm in the Andes has been producing specialty coffee for three generations. At 1,750 meters, cool nights slow the cherry maturation, concentrating sugars that translate into a syrupy sweetness in the cup.

Volcanic soil from three surrounding volcanoes gives Antigua coffees a mineral richness unlike anywhere else. The natural process — drying the whole cherry on raised beds — amplifies the fruit-forward depth these beans are known for.

The Othaya cooperative processes cherries at the Gikanda washing station, where a double-fermentation technique produces the vibrant, wine-like acidity Kenya is famous for. Every lot is hand-sorted twice before export.

The Kochere Cooperative

In the misty highlands of Yirgacheffe, the Kochere cooperative has become a model for what direct trade can achieve. Over 700 families cultivate heirloom varieties under indigenous shade canopies, preserving biodiversity while producing some of the world's most aromatic coffees.

Our partnership pays a 15% premium above market price, funding a primary school, clean water access for three villages, and an annual cupping competition that rewards the highest-scoring micro-lots. Twelve years in, the relationship is stronger than ever.
