Our Story
About SILO
A coffee company built on curiosity, craft, and connection.
The Beginning
What if you could taste the terroir of coffee the way you do wine?
SILO started in 2018 with that simple question. Our founder, Marco Silva — a former agronomist who spent years walking coffee farms from Yirgacheffe to Huila — believed that coffee deserved the same reverence as wine. That every cup should tell the story of its soil, its altitude, its people.
It started with a 1kg sample roaster in a garage in Portland. Marco would roast tiny batches, cup obsessively, and dial in profiles until each origin sang. Friends became customers. Customers became evangelists. The garage became a roastery.
Today, SILO operates 3 roasters, maintains 12 direct trade relationships across 4 continents, and runs the café you might be sitting in right now. We've grown, but the question hasn't changed. We're still chasing terroir. Still tasting the soil in the cup.
